Beach, Lucy Sheldon, 1788-1889
biographical statement
Lucy Sheldon Beach was the daughter of Huldah Stone Sheldon (1759-1817) and Dr. Daniel Sheldon (1750-1840) of Litchfield, Conn. She attended the Litchfield Female Academy from 1801 until 1803. In 1832, she married wealthy Litchfield merchant Dr. Theron Beach (1785-1864). They had no children. At some point in the mid-1800s, Elizbeth Prince Child, Lucy's first cousin once removed (Elizabeth was the granddaughter of Lucy's aunt Dothe Stone Cutler (1756-1805)), moved in with her. Lucy lived in the Sheldon house on North Street for her entire life and died in 1889.
