Child, Mrs. Nathaniel Rochester (Elizabeth Prince), 1890
Scope and Contents
Folder contains two 6" x 8" mounted, and one unmounted photo of Mrs. Nathaniel Rochester Child, (Elizabeth Stone Prince), and one copy unmounted. Both photos are taken in her home on North Street, locally known as the Daniel Sheldon house. One is taken in the parlor with her seated next to a piano. In the other photo she is seated at her desk in the upper-front hall. A description included on the back of the photo makes note of a preserved section of an original hand-stencilled decoration and a gas jet (lamp?). Also noted was that Mrs. Child was educated at the Litchfield Female Seminary in the 1830's. Later in life went to live with Mrs. Theron Beach, (Lucy Sheldon). Photographs taken by William H. Sanford of Litchfield. Also see Daguerreotype Box 10 - Child, and oversize Turner Collection in Shelden House.
