Scope and Contents

Blotter Number 5 begins with the 6th of February 1797. Notable entries include charges for setting up the Union Library, the first library in New Milford.

As with earlier volumes, African Americans are listed without surnames. "Henry Negro" and "Jethro Negro" are both listed in this volume.

in May of 1797, a lengthy entry for what may be setting up a household appears charged to Reuben Bostwick, Elijah Boardman's uncle who migrated to Ohio.

Like other volumes, the end of the book contains lists of expenses, and accounts for particular products, in thsi case flax.
