Scope and Contents
Four letters, in the first Lucy describes her typical day, her health and recent events with the children, and inquires about a recent capture of soldiers by Gen. Lee. In the second letter Lucy tells more about her daily life, visiting friends, her health, and prayer meetings. In the third, Lucy informs Winthrop of messages from friends, the state of the children, and the state of her health. In the last letter, Lucy talks about the draft riots in New York City and recent Union victories in the South. She also describes her prospects of visiting Winthrop in Washington.
