Scope and Contents
Three letters from Lucy to Wintrhop. Two letters reference buying a seat in church. In the first letter Lucy writes about the death of Mrs. Dolittle and the children’s schooling. This letter also includes an attached letter from Winthrop E. Phelps, who talks about church and wanting to visit. In the second letter, Lucy discusses her health and visitors to the house. There is also a letter attached to this from Harriet Phelps, describing the treatment and death of Etta Shattuck. In the third letter, Lucy talks about the assassination of President Lincoln, the attempted assassination of Secretary Seward, and household purchases.
