Scope and Contents
3 letters, in the first letter Winthrop describes all the activities which he did the previous day, a description of the sermon he gave, and money matters. He also talks about gardening and news of friends. In the second letter, Winthrop talks about an attack on Fort Lyon and describes the injuries of the soldiers. In the third letter, Winthrop describes burying the dead, and news about the regiment. Also he tells Lucy he regrets putting her in a difficult situation at home. In addition, he describes the soldiers he meets from other regiments, his new lodgings, and his treatment by Col. Kellogg.
