3 letters, in the first letter Winthrop talks about going to Washington D.C., seeing friends there, and going to church services, one of which was for blacks. He also talks about how much he misses Lucy. In the second letter, Winthrop describes his uncontrollable desire to write letters to Lucy and his return trip from Washington to the regiment. In the third letter, Winthrop describes his return to camp, what the camp is like, money matters, and a message for Frances Phelps.
