Scope and Contents
3 letters, in the first letter Mary writes about how she became more religious from being a part of Winthrop’s parish before he entered the war. She also writes to ask if he can locate a soldier named James Stanley and to keep him from falling into sin. In the second letter, Mary writes that she is glad that Winthrop is the chaplain of the regiment, tells about James Stanley, and asks if Winthrop can suggest to James to send his money to her instead of spending it. In the third letter, Mary asks if James Stanley and/or Winthrop are going to the front or are preparing for active battle. She also asks about James Stanley’s progress toward becoming a good Christian.
