Masefield, J to Bull, D., 1918
Folder 4
Item listing
John Masefield wrote Dorothy Bull 19 times between January and August of 1918, many on Harvard Club stationary, his NYC base between short lecture tours or trips to military training camps throughout the U.S., including Chicago, Tacoma, Greenville, Mobile, and San Antonio. Masefield's May 13th cover note to Bull encloses thank yous to her from his children Judith and Lewis ("Tim") as well as snapshots of his wife, Constance de la Cherois Crommelin Masefield, and children. Masefield thanked Bull, on 1918-04-29 and 1918-07-31, for her hospitality during two visits to Litchfield and urged Bull to write more, insisting she not reduce life to something unimportant by questioning whether she is justified in doing so.
