Scope and Contents
Accounts of Elijah Boardman's business as a dry goods merchant. Family accounts are also included. The series is made up of daybooks, blotters, balance books, waste books, ledgers, checkbooks, indexes, lists of balances, open accounts, and cash accounts.

Processing Information
The materials in this series were received in bundles, and appear to have remained in the same condition and order that Boardman left them in. The bundles have been untied and foldered without disturbing the order. In some cases the size of the bundles required that they be divided between multiple folders. A note in the finding aid and on the folders will indicate when this was done.
Folder titles were taken from the wrappers on the bundles and have been arranged by category (notes, bills, etc.) and by date when possible.
Dates are taken from the date on the wrapper but many of the documents contain multiple dates which may go beyond the year or years listed on the wrapper.
