Due Bills 1797 Taken Up, 1797
Folder 4
Scope and Contents
Primarily notes payable on demand or in goods at Boardman's store. Of special interest is a bill dated 17 June 1797 from New Haven promising to pay Misters Miller and Whitney at their store in New Haven half a ton of bar iron within three months. A note on the back dated 28 June 1797 indicates that it is paid in full.
There is also a note from Philo Ruggles of 28 November 1797 stating that Gideon Wickham owes Ruggles thirty shillings and nine pence which he wishes to pay in Iron. Ruggles wishes Boardman to take the iron and give him a store credit.
A note signed over to Boardman in December 1797 from Elliot and Garnsey of Pitsfield against Jonathan Allen requires him to collect of Allen and remit the money to Elliot and Garnsey.
