Scope and Contents
Two letters from A. A. Hine to Cornelia E. Boardman from New Haven regarding visits with friends from New Milford. The first, dated 14 January 1848, Hine thanks Cornelia for a Christmas gift; describes a stray dog they have taken in; mentions a visit from George and notes Elijah's absence; reports that William Goodrich was attacked by a student who is now at large; reports on a railroad from Farmington to New Haven. The second letter, dated June 19 (no year), reports on illness and recovery; ntoes the lack of news from New Milford and is writing in an attempt to elicit a response; notes satisfaction that a gambling room has been broken up and will be turned into a reputable boarding house; gives family news.
