Sub-Series 3.1.1.1.
Scope and Contents
Letter to Cornelia E. Boardman dated Nov 10th (no year) signed H.M.H. The writer apologizes for procrastinating about writing back. Notes that the time in the city goes quickly, has resolved to leave all of the things undone until the stormy days of December. Had hoped that Cornelia would have visited New York. She fears a lawyer, doctor, or lieutenant stands in the way of Cornelia visiting. Notes that she found a remark in Cornelia’s last letter about the Mission School ladies had failed in their duty to be cutting. Remarks that she had intended to have a fair, but that she could not understand why a person couldn’t give what they intended without having to get a pincushion in return. Reports on status of their Sunday school. She shall soon require Cornelia’s services as a teacher if they continue to increase their numbers. Notes that their meeting was postponed due to Mr. Schroeder’s sickness, says a bible class will commence Wednesday. Is reading the Life of Hannah More by Mr. Roberts and thinks Cornelia will enjoy it.
