Scope and Contents
Cornelia E. Boardman writes to her mother Mary Anna Whiting Boardman from New York. Notes that she would enjoy Thanksgiving at home with her mother but will instead celebrate the day with company; Frederick's lectures are very interesting; St. Paul's is in want of Sunday School teachers so she may offer her services; Miss Smith visited Saturday. Mr. Haight was with them for dinner and invited Cornelia to travel to Connecticut with him for Thanksgiving, which she would have done had Lavinia been invited, but "I do not like travelling with young gentlemen as it may cause remarks." Her sister Caroline Boardman Schroeder is engaged with a dressmaker but does not like her; the children are all well; Mary grows fat, Cornelia holds her own, and Johnny is full of mischief; gives other news of friends; asks her mother to write to them; a post script notes that Mrs. S (presumably Caroline Boardman Schroeder) presents her compliments and requests Mrs. Boardman and others join them for Christmas.
