Boardman, Cornelia to Norrie, [Adam], 1877 Dec 28
Folder 6
Scope and Contents
Cornelia E. Boardman writes to Mr. Norrie at St. Luke’s Hospital (Adam Norrie was the treasurer of St. Luke’s) regarding the admission of a “poor girl” named Lucy Osborn. Cornelia had been told that Lucy would be received as a free patient and her church was to send donations to the hospital from time to time. Cornelia requested Norrie send her a certificate indicating that Lucy Osborn was a free patient and requests he not mention it to Lucy lest it worry her. It was sent back to Cornelia with an account on the back showing $150 had been donated by St. John’s Church in New Milford and the cost of Lucy’s treatment had been $1166 to date. George S. Baker added a note dated Feb 9, 1878 stating that 12,000 grafts have been transplanted from the arms of the house staff of surgeons to Lucy Osborn’s head.
