Scope and Contents
Cornelia E. Boardmwan writes to her sister Caroline Boardman Schroeder that she set a few lines by Mr. Northrop the day before. Describes her despair at being responsible for making decisions upon the death of their uncle William Whiting; gives details of his coffin, traveling to Great Barrington, his funeral, and Whiting family affairs including payment for estate expenses. Also notes that she gave their Uncle Abraham the legacy their mother left him; reports that Frederick Whiting is to marry a Maria Hills of Barrington and notes that she is a fine girl with quite a fortune. Asks her to write to Uncle A. [Abraham Whiting] who is feeble and will not live long, Harriet is distressed about his spiritual state. Notes having found their mother's baptismal record in the church. Some of the text in the middle of each page is obscured by water damage and tears.
