Scope and Contents
Chronically arranged lists of deaths, primarily of Litchfield County residents and native-born Litchfield persons. Some notes that may be included are place of death, age, spouse, parents, & any unusual circumstances of death. Of particular note are two death notices of former slaves, Chloe Haywood, slave to Ephraim Kirby, was given to Reverend Truman Marsh at the age of 7. She remained in his family until her death on March 13, 1866. Also noted is Mrs. Killey Harrison whose mother was a slave to Ebenezer Bolls of Litchfield. She married Richard Harrison, whose mother was Betty, a slave of Mr. Ephraim Harrison of South Farms. She died April 21, 1866.
