Four letters to John Paine Cushman, three from Benjamin Tallmadge and one from Phebe Tallmadge.
Benjamin Tallmadge writes concerning his investments; the legacy of his recently deceased brother John; and his thoughts on religion, including the rebirth of the soul and the subjects of a sermon by Lyman Beecher. He also reviews the availability of boarding places for young ladies who wish to attend the Litchfield Female Academy.
The letter from Phebe Tallmadge describes the death and funeral of Uncle John Tallmadge, Benjamin Tallmadge's brother.
