Scope and Contents
Bills, receipts and correspondence between wholesale merchants Reed & Lee in New York andMessrs. Harrison & Parmelee in Litchfield. The latter purchased such items as gin, coffee, cigars, raisins, sugar, tea, and snuff. Some purchases were sent via the New Haven Packet on the Sloop Paragon, Sloop Eliza, and Sloop Huntress. There is also detailed accounting of casks and boxes of cheese. Some of the cheese is marked Beecher, and some E. Marsh. Costs involved in selling the cheese include cartage, cooperage, labor, advertising, storage, and commission.
