Records (1982-26-0) including correspondence, estimates, leases, site plans & alterations, and newspaper articles concerning the Beckwith building on South Street for use as the Litchfield Post Office. Owners of the building were Harry Hart, Hans C. Seherr-Thoss, Henry Hodkoski, William H. Risley, and Edmund T. Crowe. Most of the correspondence involves letters from their attorney Raymond J. Devlin, Jr. Included is correspondence with the State Historic Preservation Officer; United States Postal Service, Northeast Region; Postmaster General; Litchfield Historic District Commission; S. Dillon Ripley; and town officials. Also included are copies of Applications for Historic Preservation Grants from Connecticut Historical Commission; and site plans by Smith Edwards, architects.
