Scope and Contents
The Charles Decatur Buell papers (2014-2-0) consist primarily of accounts and diaries kept by Charles D. Buell from 1870 to 1928. The accounts are for his grocery store in the center of Litchfield and his farm that was off Buell Road in Litchfield. He often recorded the weather as well. There are two volumes that were kept by Charles D. Buell's son,George W. Buell. Charles D. Buel died in 1928. The last account book, written in 2 different hands, is from 1929 to1955 and includes accounts for groceries, poultry and eggs, laundry, and labor. This appears to have belonged to George W. Buell and his wife Julia Andrus Buell. Three boxes - currently housed in 3A section 2.

Biographical or Historical Information
Charles Decatur Buell was born in 1846, the only child of George Decatur Buell and Lucretia Stantion Parmalee. He married Alice Eliza Cook in 1868. Charles D. Buell died in 1928.
