Biographical / Historical

Levi (Lee) Parsons was born in Torrington on April 9, 1920 and lived most of his life in Litchfield son of the late Julia and Levi Parsons. He attended Litchfield public schools and attended Middlesex University, Waltham, MA. In 1941, he enlisted in the Armed Forces and served 3-1/2 years in the Pacific during WWII., receiving numerous medals and citations, including the Distinguished Flying Cross with Oakleaf Cluster. He was appointed Grand Marshall of the Bantam Memorial Day Parade in 1995, a long-time parishioner of St. Michaels Episcopal Church, a member of the American Legion Post No. 44. He enjoyed carpentry, outdoor concerts at Tanglewood with his wife, Margaret, family gatherings at his son's cottage on Bantam Lake, fishing outings with his sons when they were boys and the volunteer work he was involved with when he was a member of the American Legion.
