The records of the Litchfield South Association (1842-1991), which consist of correspondence, minutes, publications, and other administrative records. In 1751, the same year as the founding of Litchfield County, the Congregational churches of the county were brought together into one organization, the Litchfield County Consociation. In 1791, with 28 members, the Consociation amicably divided into organziations, Litchfield North Consociation and Litchfield South Consociation. Churches in Bethlehem, Harwinton, Litchfield,  New Milford, New Preston, Plymouth, Roxbury, Southbury, South Britain,  South Farms, Washington, Watertown, and Woodbury were the original members of the South Consociation. Over time, other churches joined while some left. When the Consociation celebrated its 200th anniversary in 1991, churches in Bethlehem, Bridgewater, Litchfield, Morris, New Milford, New Preston, Northfield, Plymouth, Roxbury, Sherman, South Britain, Southbury, Washington, Washington Depot, and Woodbury were members.
