Scope and Contents
The Friday Fasters record book (1913-33-0) was made by Mary H. Willis to document the Litchfield female lunch club known as the Friday Fasters. The book contains a variety of items recording the activities of the club from 1902 to 1904. Inside the front cover is a watercolor depicting the lunch club in a satirical manner. The words "Semper Puratus", which translate to "always ready", appear under the name "Ye Friday Fasters". Also present in the record book is a brief explanation of the first meeting of the club and its formation, along with a list of members. The bulk of the book is made up of lunch menus for the first and second seasons of the club. The menus list out lunch items, as well as the club members who were responsible for supplying them for the luncheon. Nine menus are included for season one, and ten regular luncheon menus are included for season two. Also present in the album is an untitled poem about the club, puzzles and riddles that were done at the luncheons, name cards, and a small selection of recipes. The record books is compiled in a scrapbook manner, and has a embroidered cover. The item is currently housed in 3A Box 22.

Biographical or Historical Information
The Friday Fasters was a women's lunch club in Litchfield, Connecticut. The first meeting was held in November of 1902, with twenty-eight members present. The club met every two weeks. At these luncheons each member would be responsible for an item on the lunch menu. During the 1902-1903 season nine lunches were held. The club also hosted a dinner dance at the Litchfield Club House. The second season consisted of ten regular lunch meetings, as well as a small number of complimentary lunches for the club. At these luncheons the hostess would supply lunch for everyone, and members were not expected to contibute to the lunch supplies.
