Scope and Contents
The Litchfield, England collection (2003-72-0, .21 linear feet) consists of publications regarding Lichfield, England, assembled by the staff of the Litchfield Historical Society. Included is an engraving of a map of Staffordshire circa 1842 by Archibald Fullarton & Co., Glasgow. Most of the collection dates from the 1970s through the early 2000s and consists of tourist-type books, brochures, maps, and other items, and focuses on Lichfield, the surrounding area, and native son Samuel Johnson (1709-1784). The collection also includes correspondence from Michael Fabricant, Member of Parliament, Lichfield Consituency regarding a visit by a delegation from Lichfield to Litchfield, Conn., and letters from other British officials.

Accruals and Additions
The largest group of materials consists of a gift from Michael Fabricant, Member of Parliament for the Lichfield Consituency made in 2001. Additional gifts were made by Mrs. Charles Allcraft and the Town of Litchfield. Donated in 1994 was a collection of Lichfield, England publications from Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Wilson of Lichfield, Staffordshire, England.
