Scope and Contents
The Harley Morse probate account (2011-40-0) is a handwritten record of the cash estate of Harley Morse after his death on December 21, 1870. The notebook contains entries beginning January 3, 1771 noting the monetary activities of the estate at the First National Bank in Litchfield. Also in the notebook are several receipts concerning the funeral and burial of Harley Morse, as well as other items relating to his estate.

Biographical or Historical Information
Harley Morse was born November 6, 1792 in Litchfield, Connecticut where he worked as a farmer and produced cheese. On February 15, 1816 Harley married Susan Hall (born January 15, 1797) of Wallingford, Connecticut. The couple had six children. After Susan's death on August 1, 1845 Harley was married to Harriet Ensign (born January 4, 1802) of Litchfield. On December 21, 1870 Harley passed away.
