A typed sheet with the rules of Otadama, and on the reverse side is a handwritten note [possibly by Emily Noyes Vanderpoel] that the game was learned by Miss E.T. White from the Japanese girl living in the family of the Rev. Leonard Bacon in New Haven. In the 1880 census for New Haven, Stamato Yamakama was a boarder with the Bacon family while she was attending school.
