Scope and Contents In early December 1803, Boardman shipped barrels of pork and beef to Bridgeport and had goods carted back including sugar, paint, spices, corks, frying pans, whips, shovels, turpentine, brass kettles, hardware, steel, indigo, tobacco, and coffee. An entry from February 4, 1804 for storing shingles notes it may be paid in cash or iron. There is one mention of an African American customer. An entry of 13 February 1804 to Abel Hinn says, "To your order pd Abel Negro 8/10 paid him in humhum."...
