Biography

The AFS was founded in August 1914 as the American Field Service. In 1947, the name was changed to AFS International Scholarships. In 1978, it became the AFS International/Intercultural Programs. In 1987, the name was changed to the AFS Intercultural Programs in 1987. Over the course of its existence, the AFS has evolved from a volunteer ambulance corps in 1914 to the world’s most experienced international student exchange organization with programs in 54 countries and over 100,000 volunteers)

A one hundred and eighteen page blue cookbook of recipes collected by the Litchfield branch of the American Field Service and published in 1984, a "Historical Luncheon Recipes" pamphlet published by Litchfield High School in 2000, and an undated envelope from the Litchfield Preparatory School.
