Biography

A Torrington High School graduate, he was a star pitcher for the state championship baseball team in 1939. After high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as part of the amphibious force LST (landing ship tank), seeing action in the South Pacific, New Guinea, the Philippines, Korea and China and was again called to active duty during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return, he became a professional photographer with studios in Litchfield, and later Torrington. A lifelong avid sports fan, in 1968 he assumed the position of Sports Editor of The Torrington Register Newspaper, retiring from there in 1983.
