Scope and Contents

Writes from New York to his sister that he has traveled lately on business, would prefer to visit Litchfield, but that is not possible; has been consistently occupied; time passes quickly; does not feel competent to advise Lucy on uniting with the church; she will have good advisors and by using her own mind, she can determine whether to profess the name of our saviour; discusses this; wishes he could see her so as to express all that he would; has not had any discussion with Reuben on the subject before he left, but thinks he will not yield to temptation which will surround him in that country.
