Scope and Contents

O.S. Seymour in Litchfield writes to Elisha Phelps, Esq. Comptroller in Hartford asking him to examine the rolls of Col. Lamb's Regiment to find the name of Gershom Gibbs. Seymour reports that he has received an old muster roll that shows that Gibbs enlisted in Feb 1778 in Lamb's company of artificers belonging to a corps commanded by Elisha Painter, Esq. He is seeking futher information about that company to help Mr. Gibbs. In pencil at the bottom is "can't find".
