Scope and Contents
This blotter containes entries for the same variety of goods as other blotters in the series. This volume contains several unusual entries, including one for opium and "Niagura Wood" which may refer to Nicaragua Wood which was used for dyeing textiles.
There are two mentions of African Americans, one on 7 August 1805 lists "Negro" as purchasing nankeen, butter, molds, and stick twist. No name is given and payment was cash. The second is for Cyrus Taylor listed above an entry for Hine and Taylor on 10 September 1805, the same day he is credited for laying a wall. He purchased clear beef and rum.
This blotter contains several entries for the State of Connecticut making purchases on behalf of individuals. On 27 July 1805 shirts for R. Brown, and on 19 Oct 1805 rum for John Brendian.
An entry on 15 Oct 1805 credits D.S. Boardman for drawing up a bill of sale from Samuel Graves to Elijah Boardman for half carding machine.
In addition to entries for laborers listed throughout the volume, a page in the back lists several of the same individuals and complies their entries from earlier in the book. Labor includes credit for such as hoeing, carding, making putty, laying a wall, and mowing.
