Phelps about what is going on in the family. In the second letter Lucy discusses clothes and school purchases that need to be made as well as a description on how she is feeling. Also included in this is a receipt for a subscription to Eclectic Magazine of Foreign Literature. In the third letter, Lucy describes visits to friends, the selling of their horse, their son Winthrop wanting to go to a new school, and her current state of health.
