Scope and Contents

This series contains papers relating to Esther Thompson. Most of this series consists of Esther's notes and manuscripts on Litchfield History, including her own memories and those of others in town. Of particular note is her childhood memory of troops mustering on the town green during the Civil War as well as information regarding William Grimes and other enslaved people. This series also contains correspondence and school related material. Some items of note are “letters” from Esther’s cat, Whitlock White Thompson, as well as various essays written for a competition at Litchfield High School.
