Scope and Contents

Typed copy of original letter with notes about original. Letter to his son, mentions death of Mother Thompson and his own long illness. Discusses how William H. Thompson owns the property where they live and how he had left for Saratogo on account of his health - hadn't been well upon returning from GA. Mentions William's kindess and that he provides well for his family. Talks about churches in the New Haven area (notes one was a congregation of "people of color". John implores his son to write. Also a note from Dana to John saying he had written and heard no reply. Mentions Anna (probably Anna P. Thompson).
