Wishes her mother would write; notes receipt of a letter from Uncle Sherman written after he arrived in Litchfield; Col. Bostwick has died; Nele sends a kiss and love to Grandma and Aunt Betsey as do Mary and Johnny; spent Saturday with the McFarlan's and when she returned found William; Mr. Schroeder invited her to Washington and if Eliza would join she would be tempted; Horace Lockwood said goodbye prior to sailing to New Orleans; provides details of several weddings and the death of Stanley Baldwin; tells of items she has purchased for the family; gossip about various friends; tells of a visit from Mr. Moores of the US Navy who just returned from seeing Mount Vesuvius in action, Jerusalem, and various other points of interest.
