Scope and Contents

Cornelia E. Boardman writes to her sister Caroline Schroeder that Sarah Gaylord is going to New York today so she takes the opportunity to send a letter with her and gives details about the visit. Tells of family health and a surprise visit from Orinda who starts the following week for the Great Western for Europe with Mary James and her family. Notes Mary’s health concerns are the reason for her trip and gives details and discusses Orinda’s difficulty saying goodbye and that she sends her love to Caroline. Eliza Canfield is very low and being prayed for; Mrs. Canfield and the girls are having new colored drapes made; Going to a picnic at the falls above Kent. Thanks Caroline for the interesting letter detailing the activities of the children. Requests that if Betsey goes to the city before coming up she get some purple worsted so that Cornelia can make cords and tassels for the books in the pulpit and desk at church and some other yarn; Aunt Betsey will not go to Flushing this summer; she is impatient for a visit. Included cake in the basket for the “dear chicks.”
