Scope and Contents
Cornelia E. Boardman writes a note to her sister Caroline that she sends with a trunk containing food from their mother for Caroline's Christmas dinner as well as gifts and clothing for her family; notes that Elijah came yesterday and has gotten so tall she has to look up to him, he is 152 pounds and handsome, gives details of his walks; reports that their mother's health is good and that brother William has dividends for them; states that Mr. Rogers who married Harriet Ruggles died by suicide; repords on visitors and letters received; Mr. Nicholas sent a letter along with a book entitled "The book of Shakespears Years" which has an engraving every other leaf and notes that she believes it's not improper to receive it; also notes that Mr. Nicholas will visit with the understanding that it is as a friend. Wishes Caroline were there to advise her as to her reply; gives details of other family and friends and wishes them all a happy Christmas. Adds a post script noting her hope that the trunk will arrive the following day and that the turkey will be tender.
