Cornelia E. Boardman writes to her sister Caroline Boardman Schroeder. Several sections of the letter are obscured by water damage. Notes that she found the bedquilts they had searched for last summer. Notes that the Honorable Perry Smith was buried yesterday and his son is to go to New Haven to live; Royal Canfield wishes to sell his real estate and leave New Milford; Parsons Clark will probably not stay long leaving three big houses to find inhabitants for and she hopes they will be better than present occupants. Purchased a spring bed but is hesitant to use it due to concern about thunder storms; Discusses plans for upcoming visit and her desire to bring everyone back to New Milford; Describes a trip to Bridgeport and a convention of 100 clergymen and two "fine looking Bishops." Notes that their brother William reached Cleveland the previous Friday at 11am. She received a telegraphic dispatch on Saturday. Mary writes that Elijah's symptoms are not good and Cornelia presumes he will not live past fall; Mrs. Stone has 53 scholars; mentions the marriage in Philadelphia of Dr. Barhans and Mrs Noxen, a couple who are 89 and 79 years old; gives details of her expenses; Reverend Clark of Waterbury will be there Sunday.
