Scope and Contents
Three letters: one from Benjamin Tallmadge's son William to his sister Maria (Tallmadge) Cushman, another from Benjamin Tallmadge to his daughter Maria, and a third from Tallmadge to Captain Alden Partridge, superintendent of the Military Academy at West Point.
In his letter to his sister, William Tallmadge describes his recent trip to the Netherlands and mentions falling in love with an English girl.
Benjamin Tallmadge's letter to Maria expresses his joy at the influence of the religious revival on his daughter Harriot.
Benjamin Tallmadge's letter to Captain Partridge introduces his son, George Washington Tallmadge, reviews his son's prior education, and expresses his hope that his son will flourish at the military academy at West Point.
