Scope and Contents

Three letters to John Paine Cushman, one from Benjamin Tallmadge, Jr., and two from Benjamin Tallmadge, Sr. The first letter requests Cushman's assistance, in his capacity as a delegate to Congress, to advance the interest of Tallmadge Jr.'s friend, a midshipman on the US Ship Washington named Mr. Whipple.

In one letter, Tallmadge Sr. reports social news, and expresses his distaste for another war, referring to the "Spanish patriots in South America."
