Two letters, one from George Washington Tallmadge to his sister Maria (Tallmadge) Cushman, and the other from Benjamin Tallmadge to John Paine Cushman. George Washington Tallmadge's letter mentions his studies in French at West Point, his growing height, and his affection for Maria's young son.
Benjamin Tallmadge's letter to Cushman deplores the perpetuation of slavery in the United States.
