Scope and Contents
1777 SEP 4 Andrew Adams, States Attorney General for Litchfield County, informs the County Court that on 1777 AUG 5, John Abernathy of Woodbury, soldier of the 13th Regiment of the Militia, neglected and refused Captain Timothy Judson's orders (issued from Commander Increase Moseley Jr., Esq.) to muster and march to Peekskill, which was "in danger of an attack from the Enemy." Adams requests from the Court a due process hearing for Abernathy. 1777 SEP 4 Isaac Baldwin, clerk of the court, commands the Litchfield County Sheriff or his Deputy to summons John Abernathy of Woodbury to appear before the County Court of Litchfield on the fourteenth day of September. 1777 SEP 11 Yesy Abner Moseley, Constable of Woodbury, states he has read the aforementioned information regarding Abernathy's hearing.
