Scope and Contents

A hand written letter from Mrs. Mabel Seymour sent to Delia Seymour. Mrs. Seymour mentions receiving Delia's earlier letter through Addison and is sending this letter with her nieces traveling by Stage. She encourages her to be useful and to practice drawing in crayons as Miss Peck does not intend to give drawing lessons. She is also sending pith to use for painting but wishes she would study Botany with Sophiania. Mrs. Seymour wishes her to mark some muslin for Aunt M. or Susan and to please Uncle T. Henny will be home in three weeks but may send him to Middletown if they could afford it. They received a line from Louisa and Mr. Bears has buried his brother Henry. Mr. Sanford's baby died and brought to New Milford. Living with them now is Mr. Catlin who is a miniature painter who she should come paint with him and sending a piece for a watch paper. She inquires if Eliza has a beau. There is a portrait of Major Moses Seymour in the collection of Litchfield Historical Society.
