This Writ (1993-26-0) is from a lawsuit between James Johnston and Reuben Smith, regarding a debt of $200 pounds.  The document, dated November 19, 1788,  begins with an order to the local constables from the presiding Justice of the Peace, Isaac Pardes, to summon Reuben Smith to appear before the Court of Common Pleas.  It then continues three years later, In Litchfield Superior Court regarding a bond between Johnston and Smith.

Letter from Julia Henrietta Jones to Laura Boardman Lane offering excuses for not writing sooner. Jones details a doctor’s success in treating Mary Deming, also a former Female Academy student, who would die the following month.

Scope and Contents Papers related to the Joy and Beers families consisting of genealogical tables and family records, news clippings and obituaries, correspondence (six are sympathy letters written at the death of Katie Palmer Joy at age 26 in childbirth), and other documents. Family members include Jane Joy Burgess, Jane Ellen Joy, Lewis Beers Joy, and Belle Radcliffe Laverack. These families primarily lived in New York State. Walter Joy (1810-1863) and Jane Ellen Radcliffe were married on January 22, 1833...

Scope and Contents Papers of Lucy Flower Karl (1870-1958), consisting of correspondence, ephemera, a photograph, and other documents. Lucy Karl was married to William C. Karl, and the papers include items related to her 13-year-old son William Raymond Karl, who had the unfortunate distinction of being Litchfield's first motor vehicle fatality in 1915. William C. Karl was one of seven Karl brothers who came to Litchfield with their parents, Peter and Wilhelmina Hudel Karl, in the 1880s. William died in 1903....
