Scope and Contents

The Bostwick and Weed account book (2011-123-0) dates from 1835-1839. One of the parties may have continued using this ledger after the firm's dissolution in 1837. Products listed include shoes, meat, wood, and leather. The factory was in the South Farms section of Litchfield, now the town of Morris. Currently housed in 3B Box 21.

Biographical / Historical

Advertisements in the Litchfield Enquirer from 1835-37 note that Bostwick and Weed was engaged in the tannery and shoemaking business. A notice in 1837 announced the dissolution of the partnership between Joel Bostwick and Marshall Weed and that Weed was to continue the business.
