Biographical / Historical
Neal D. Benedict operated a photography studio in Litchfield between 1885 and 1898. In addition to portrait photography, he made and sold prints of local scenes and events.
Extent
39 items : The photographs in this collection are boudoir cards. They are similar to cabinet cards in that they are photographs mounted to a card, but are larger in format. They may vary slightly in size but each is approximately ; 8 1/4" x 5 1/8"

Arrangement
The images are arranged alphabetically by title. Most are titled according to the descriptions given on the lists of photographs printed on the back of some of the prints. The prints that do not appear on the lists are titled according to the subject of the photographh as accurately as possible.
Custodial History
The photographs in this collection have been held in the Litchfield Town Hall for many years. They may have been collected by Evelyn Goodwin, a previous Town Clerk.
