One broadside describing a sale at Dwight C. Kilbourn's store. Kilbourn, a lawyer, historian and Civil War veteran, opened a general goods store in East Litchfield, CT, in a building near the East Litchfield train station. Selling items such as dry goods, groceries, hardware, crockery, clothing, and a variety of other goods, Kilbourn’s business grew. He advertised his store regularly in the Litchfield Enquirer through the mid-1870s, and utilized poems and rhymes in his advertising. The broadside is framed and stored off site.
