Scope and Contents
The Philinda Elliott Papers, 2007-24-0, consist of promissory notes, receipt, and deeds from 1863-1894. Two of the promissory notes are signed by William Elliott. The receipt is for burial expenses at the death of Philinda Elliott in 1894. The deeds include lands purchased by Philinda Elliott, quit claimed to her, and taken in a lawsuit settlement. Philinda Elliott was born in Vermont in 1807. At some point she relocated to Litchfield/Northfield, Connecticut. On the 1880 census she is identified as a single woman and the head of the household with her nephew and his wife and child living with her. Philinda Elliott died August 4, 1894 and was burried in the Northfield Cemetery.
